Today's Featured Biography

Terry Bachmann

I was in the Navy for 13 1/2 years. I was on a bus for Great Lakes Training Center the day after graduation, enlisted and rose through the ranks until I got to E-7. I left the Navy after the 13 1/2 years - I had been married in the fall of 1972, and my next assignment would have been to an isolated post, so I wasn't willing to accept that. During my time in the Navy I traveled - internationally and state side. Upon leaving the service, I found a job with a Dallas based company who also had international work sites - Australia. We spent 2 tours there, and we added to our family a daughter. We came back and lived in Texas for a time, and added another daughter. Family wanted us to return to Wisconsin so they could enjoy the grandchildren. We headed back to La Crosse and were there from 1978 until 2003. Time flew by and our girls grew up, and now, they have ventured out on their own. Both are in Madison. We joined them in Madison, and our youngest daughter has married and has 2 grandsons. They are a great source of joy. The winter of 2013 going into 2014 proved too much for us senior citizens - and we have returned to Texas to enjoy warmer winters. Our first winter here was great, and we feel blessed that we were able to make the transition. We have been married 42 years. I haven’t been one to attend class reunions, but I hope you have fun.
