Today's Featured Biography
John Baugh
I have resided for 24 years in Manhattan, Kansas; ever since being honorably discharged from 4 years of service in the Navy doing aviation electronics aboard the aircraft carrier, Intrepid.
I graduated from Kansas State University in 1978 with a B. S. in Electrical Engineering. I worked the next 10 years as an E.E. with a small design/manufacturing company based here in Manhattan, Ks. We designed and built aviation electronic controls for Beech, Cessna and Boeing. I did mostly the prototyping and printed circuit board design.
I have worked as an electrician the past 11 years with 7 of those years as a block licensed IBEW union electrician. I am presently working 48 hours a week at Fort Riley, Kansas in support of America’s military plan for Iraqi freedom. While the economy is not doing well in many parts of the country, people are coming from Iowa, Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Nebraska, etc. to help build the Army its buildings. With the price of gas, I don’t see myself retiring soon if ever. They say you need to have 8 times your current annual income to retire with any security in living out those money sucking years while having much of the fun you planned for in retirement.
I have been married to my dear wife, Carolyn, for 23 years. She has been teaching elementary school for 26 years and plans to retire in 3 more years.
We have three great kids who are making their own mark on the world as young adults. We are proud parents and starting to enjoy traveling to see them. We were just in Biloxi, Mississippi to see our daughter , Christine graduate from an Air Force Training program in Digital Imaging. (Radiology) She now is based at Beale Air Force Base in California. I see another road trip coming!! Our son, Brett, is in culinary school in Kansas City’s Johnson County Community College studying to be a chef. We have one more still at home, Ashley,who wanting to be a nurse. (A senior in 2009) Life is Good!!
Sorry ,I will miss the reunion this year.
