Today's Featured Biography
Louise Dergan SHOLES
Shortly after graduation I wanted to spread my wings so I moved to Los Angeles. It was an experience for sure, some of it good, some not.
In l974 I married and moved to Spokane. My husband & I enjoyed the area, but cold winters had us heading back to sunny California and more than 30 years later we're still here!
During the first years of marriage my husband wanted to pursue his interest in boats & racing. To say this made me nervous is an understatement, but it really was a lot of fun for both of us. We've done some traveling including an awesome trip to Australia and of course we've seen nearly everything on the West coast from San Diego to Alaska, but find the Oregon coast to be one of our favorites.
In l989 we adopted a baby girl & life as parents began. I found I thoroughly enjoyed being in the classroom, either pre-school,grade school or Sunday school. This led to 7 years as a Girl Scout Leader. Surprising even to me that I would teach girls to cook pancakes on a coffee can and even sleep with a snake in my tepee! One of the best experiences we've had as a family has been our involvement with Guide Dogs for the Blind. It is bittersweet when the training is done and it's time to say goodbye, but the journey along the way is so rewarding that we've done it for over 9 years. As our daughter goes to college and pursues her own interests we are having fun with our 55' Chevy and memories of the good old days.
I hope the years have been good to all of you. I look forward to the reunion, sadly though I will miss those who are no longer with us. Remember.... always enjoy the pleasure of the journey and laugh often.
