Ronald Benton Benton-Klein
Hi everyone,
After injuring my knee between 9th and 10th grade (ACL). School was not fun anymore, no sports. I started working and school became something I did not enjoy anymore. I wish I could have done it all over again and stayed in. But we move on. I started a family, married Christy Pond 11years and had 3 beautiful children Ambur 18, Jessyca 16, and Trey 13. Did different jobs, but was working! Started coaching basketball, and did asst. coach with Coach Smith his last year at Manchester. After that went to Matoaca high and asst. coach for boys varsity there also.Started working for local #100 Sheet metal union, good job. Got to my 3rd apprenticeship, and then came my divorce.Finished my schooling, went on to teach 1 year, How about that!. Moved to Fredericksburg to be closer to work in D.C. So I could afford child support,LOL Got another coaching job, Fredericksburg Academy girls varsity (head coach) YEH! , alot of people said I would never be a head coach.HA! HA! Also got a part time job as a D.J. who would have thunk it ! Shy Ron as a D.J. yes I had a good time. Then I meet my current wife
Dr. Kelly Klein now married for about 4 years now, we live in Laurel, Md with 2 good looking boys Aaron 2 1/2, and Elijah 4 months. And I have never been happier. Kept coaching in maryland in howard county a few more years, but when we decided to start a family I retired from basketball. But almost got a asst. Coach college job with Mary Washington College in Fred. Va. made it to the final 2 but my education came back to haunt me . My mother was right you need your education! GED did not cut it for them.Oh well there loss. But I am very happy with my life today , little regrets. Yes I do wish I stayed in school, but cant go back.Still working in sheet metal, I helped at the Pentagon after 9-11. worked at the treasurer, Archives. Andrews Air Force base , I have kept my nose clean so I can work at these high sercurities places. Now a Foreman for a small company in D.C. , Im happy, make a good living, and proud of my family! And myself caoch State championship AAU girls, Won bowling tournament(NABI), Maryland state champion and mid-atlantic champion in tennis, finished 7th in the nationals in California this year.
