Brad Loper
Born August 17, 1970
Amarillo, Texas
Schools Attended: Paramount Terrance Elementary
Crockett Junior High
Tascosa High School, graduated in 1988
Amarillo College
The University of Texas at Arlington, graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Photojournalism)
Brad Loper, 36, joined The Dallas Morning News staff in July 2001 after a five-year stint as a Photographer/Special Projects Page Designer at the Arlington Morning News.
Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, Loper moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1990 to attend The University of Texas at Arlington where he received a BA in Communication with a minor in Criminal Justice in 1993.
Following graduation, Loper interned at the Topeka Capital-Journal (Kansas) and the Palm Beach Post (Florida) before moving back to the DFW area.
Loper has won numerous awards in his professional career from The National Press Photographers Association, Pictures of the Year International, The Society for News Design, The Press Club of Dallas Katie Awards and the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association for his work as a photojournalist and page designer.
The highlight of Loper’s career came when he, along with seven other members of the DMN photography staff, were awarded The Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in April 2006 for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
In 2007, Loper was inducted in to the Tascosa High School Rebel Hall of Fame.
Loper and his wife, Adrienne, have three children, Nathaniel, 10, Ian, 8 and Gabriel 4.
