Today's Featured Biography
Kenneth William Whitney
After graduation went to Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. Week before I emtered attended special Nat'l Convention of Episcopal Church. Realized I was called to Episcopal Priesthood. Started at Lehigh in Chemistry,quickly switched to Socialogy. Was member of Glee Club, which sang with women's college choirs. Met Laura Kelley while singing at Wells College 1971. Spent 4 days a week second half of Junior and all of Senior year at Wells (N. of Ithaca in New York State). Worked for Episcopal Church for national convention after graduating in 1973. In Oct.'73 moved from Louisville, KY to Rochester, NY, to be near Laura. Worked for CVS as a store manager in upstate NY. Laura and I married after her graduation in 1975. Moved to Lancaster to prepare for Seminary. 1976-1979 attended Seabury-Western Seminary,Evanston, IL where I ran the food service. Graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Ordained Deacon June 1979, Priest Jan. 1980. Assisted St. Johns,York, PA, then Rector of in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. 1985 entered Harvard Divinity School. Laura-head of Circulation HDS Library. ThD in Old Testament June 1992. Asst director Ministerial studies there 1992. Oct '92 hit by car and almost killed. Recovered. Continued teaching there. Retired 2006. Moved to Bemerton, WA 2017. Reading and Writing now.
