Today's Featured Biography
CALEB ROSE
Directly after graduation, I moved to Greenville, North Carolina to attend East Carolina University. Spent four glorious years there, graduated with a BA in Psychology in May of 2000.
From ECU, I went to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. I was pursuing a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. Midway through the first semester I realized that ETSU was not the best fit for my educational/career goals, so I left and went back to Greencastle from December 2000 until August, 2001 when I moved to Huntington, WV to finish my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Marshall University.
I spent three years at Marshall. It was there that I met the woman who would become my wife, Jessica Bateman, who, in turn, introduced me to her little dog, Annie. After two failed attempts to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, I took a job at the University of Arkansas (which is where I wanted to pursue my PhD) working for the federally funded Student Support Services Program which is intended to help first-generation, low income, and disabled students matriculate and graduate from college. I currently serve as an academic counselor to roughly 100 students at the UA.
Within six months of beginning work at the UA, I enrolled in the Doctor of Higher Education program and began working on my terminal degree. after a year in this program, I again realized that it was a path that did not ultimately align with my educational and career goals, so I transferred into the PhD Program in Public Policy with a emphasis in k-12 Education Policy. I should have my PhD by May of 2010.
My wife, Jessica, followed me to Arkansas in August of 2004, though at the time we were unmarried (and it was GREAT fun living in "sin" amongst the people of the Bible Belt). In December of 2004 (3 days before Christmas) I proposed to her at Ritter Park in Huntington WV (a park where we "courted" while at Marshall together) and she accepted. The following June (2005) we were married in the Rose Garden in Ritter Park. It was nice to court, propose, and be wed in the place where we started. I guess if we ever split up, we should go sing the papers there as well (but so far we don't see that happening as we are quite happy together).
2005 was a huge year for Jess and me. We signed the papers on our 1st home in August, and a few weeks later, Jess was offered a full time teaching position at a local Elementary School. She taught 1st grade up until the 2007-2008 school year where she was transferred to Kindergarten. In short, I live with a 25 year old 6 year old because she is always in "kid mode."
In June of 2006, we added the latest addition to our family, Penny-Lane, a pure bred Dachshund that we rescued from a local animal shelter. She is the sickliest, and costliest dog I have ever owned, but we both agree she is worth every penny...get it...every penny??
I rarely make it home to Greencastle, but I am happy to say that for the most part, my immediate family is happy and healthy. My Brother (for those of you who know him) is an Attorney in Hagerstown after receiving his Law Degree from West Virginia University. He is doing well for himself. My Mom and dad are still happily married to one another and still living in the Greencastle area (though they have moved out of the house in which I was raised and bought a sweet place out toward Upton). So they are doing well also.
I am a junkie for various social networking internet sites such as myspace (www.myspace.com/jivetownjimmy) and I can also be located on the Facebook...to my knowledge, I am the only Caleb Rose at the University of Arkansas. I am still an active musician and links you can hear some of my music via myspace. I also have information on myspace linking to some other bands (Hellkansas, Hot Shot Karate) and musicians (Justin Brasher, Ryan Kennemur) whom I have been privileged to work with.
I am pretty busy with life these days and you may notice that this bio reflects heavily on the schools etc. that I have attended. Higher education has been a constant in my life. This year marks my 12th year of education beyond our High School Graduation, so it is easy to see how education has been woven into the fiber of my being. However, I am never too busy to try and catch up with old friends. I would love to know how others are doing, so please feel free to contact me so we can catch up. Take care.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
