Served as one of 24 national evaluators for three years in the development of the Certified Construction Associate Program which is a construction oriented degree program offered only through a correspondence program. Courses in which I participated included construction law, human relations, business and economics, OSHA/Safety, public speaking, construction contracting, principles of insurance, collective bargaining, accounting and applied business statistics.

Founder and Owner of support services to contractors. Presents seminars on Bid Process and Contract Characteristics.

1996 – 2011        Travelers Connect, Specializing in Cruises, Kent, Washington    
Founder and Owner of this travel service. Although routine operation is promoting and selling cruise packages, the preparation of personalized land excursions is also a specialty feature I design. Serve as on board ship representative for groups of 60 or less cruise clients. Responsible also for design of promotion materials, organizing social events, preparation of cruise documents including port data, assisted in total travel package itineraries. Accounting and public relations activities.

12/1982 – 10/1999    Valley Plan Center, Construction Plan Services    Kent, Washington
Founder/Administrator/Office Manager. As owner of this construction plan services company, coordinated all administrative activities including but not limited to promotion; member satisfaction services; accounting; purchasing; developing new services i.e. reproduction services; architect/ owner/engineer contact; financial satisfaction.

1/1981 – 6/1989    Bidding Advisory Services    Kent, Washington
Founder and Owner of this construction services company for which I prepared construction documents for bidding purposes; assisted in subcontractor solicitations and bid delivery; promotion for bids; contract administration for government projects; subcontractor/supplier project coordination/paperwork processing; jobsite field personnel fulfillment; affirmative action requirements. One major function was to teach 6-12 hour classes in the Competitive Bid Process to subcontractors and suppliers.

Since October 1999 have served as Senior Advisor and accountant, as well as preformed general office duties when needed.

11/1972 - 12/1980    Wick Construction Co., Seattle, Washington Commercial Construction Contractors
Contract Secretary/Contract Administrator/Affirmative Action and Safety Officer. Assistant Project Manager    
In the Bidding Process prepared bid documents; secured bid bonds, responsible for delivery of bids, contact with architects and owners to secure plans and specs; distribution of plans and specs to subs; solicitation advertisements and direct phone solicitations; securing of prices for specialty items, recap of bid estimate sheets, architect substitutions, maintenance of bidding project files, preparation and distribution of Bid Proposal Solicitation letters and maintenance of subcontractor and suppliers listing by CSI coding recording of bid results; communications with SBA offices representing Wick; received bid calls, certification of bids; appointed personnel for acceptance of bids; telex modifications; bid results bid delivery
As MBE/WBE Officer: Secured and maintained minority suppliers and subcontractors and women owned firms listing. Aided MBE/WBE firms in receiving certification by government agencies and assisting in certification; attend MBE/WBE pre-bid conferences as Wick's representative; attend bid openings.
As Contractor Administrator: Reviewed all subcontracts and contract purchase orders for correctness. Subcontractor coordination. insured contract compliance procedures throughout the life of the contract.
As Affirmative Action Officer: Reviewed and updated affirmative action plans as necessary; jobsite posting; jobsite superintendent goals coordination; monthly reports of minority utilization; developed new programs for specific projects, As Assistant Project Manger on public works project and earned 12% profit on the l+ Million dollar project.
Miscellaneous Other Responsibilities, attendance at pre-construction conferences, site visits.
As Safety Officer investigated OSHA and WISHA requirements. At annual superintendent's meetings presented instructions in Affirmative Action and Safety regulations. Established entire program criteria and all arrangements for two day Superintendent's meeting/seminars.

11/1970 - 8/1972    Orbaker and Company, Doylestown, PA    Real Estate Appraisers
Office Manager/Accountant Worked for this real estate and land appraiser in their multi-state operations office. Learned and implemented tax laws for the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island; the legal aspects of land acquisition; valuation of property; preparation and utilization of Federal forms and specifications and documentation; real estate transactions. Elected and served as Treasurer of the corporation. Worked directly for the President of the corporation who was the President of the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers.

8/1967 - 11/1970    Stein and Rowland Associates, Berwyn, Pennsylvania Architects and Land Planners Secretary/bookkeeper developing skills in small business administration and operations. A partnership in residential and commercial architecture and land planning offered me numerous opportunities. Drafting, bid and specification preparation, forms design, job coordination payment schedules, zoning plan development, management of a 64 unit apartment complex, design consulting, routine secretarial/ receptionist/ bookkeeper duties.

6/1966 - 8/1967        North American Publishing Company, Philadelphia, PA – Classified Ad Sales
9/1964 - 6/1966     Western Electric Corporation, Bethlehem, PA – Micro Chip Inspector/Welder
7/1964 - 9/1964        Bethlehem Acceptance Corporation, Bethlehem, PA – cashier
10/1962 - 7/1964    United Gas Improvement Company, Allentown, PA – Gas Service Estimator
3/1962 -10/1962    United Way, Allentown, PA District Charity Organizer and Fund Raiser
6/1960 - 3/1962        Salvation Army, Manchester, NH, Beverly, MA, Boston, MA – Social Worker

Other Accomplishments: (some may say they are impressed)
Developed Section 3 Program for HUD which had been used nationally as an example for over 20 years.
Super Walker for the March of Dimes – King County, 1980 top money raiser.
River Rafted through the Grand Canyon in a four man raft for 15 days when I was 60 years old.
Drove on the frozen Kuskowim River to visit Eskimos housing sites.
In Israel was escorted by armored vehicles between site visits.
Traveled to over 30 countries and met many people.
Married for 41 years and still in love with the same guy (if that’s an accomplishment), two kids
Lived to be 70 years old and that took some doing.
Learned to be patient, caring, and a good listener. Maintained a good sense of humor.

Other Abilities: typing speed 55-60 wpm, computer literate (word, excel, outlook, publisher, Picasso, other misc. programs), Sabre, internet browsing, ability to operate most office equipment, design creative ability, time organized.
