Graduation? Did we graduate? I thought it was all a dream….
Oh the memories! Ms. Shaw’s mathematics classes and her geometrically aligned necklaces that never moved. Mr. Spivey’s pop quizzes and the bonus question always related to music. The Forum and that orange carpet. A principal who’s only job seemed to be to stand in front of the lunch room and say “Enchiladas on this side, hamburgers on that side.”
And now 20 years have slid by. To quote Jerry Garcia, “Lately it occurs to me: What a long, strange trip it's been.”
So, for those of you who want to know more about what’s happened to this alum, read on Kato –
I went to college after high school and was graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. The years in Austin will always be some of the best of my life I’m sure. In a nod to our HHS class of voting me “Most Likely To Become A Politician”, I did work as an advisor and (sometimes) speech writer to the Governor of Texas for a couple of years. (This was back when Texas actually had a REAL governor with some integrity and honor.) I haven’t run for a political office yet…YET.
After UT I forsook law school (thank god) and I found myself back in the place of my birth, the Bay Area.
I got involved in advertising and marketing, landed a gig at an agency, worked on a big account and began their Internet business unit. (This was the early, early days of the Net when no one knew Jack about what to do.) I got lucky with the right place at the right time and BOOM the dotcom days where on. Left the agency and landed another gig with this start-up company called Yahoo!. WHO KNEW? Left there and found out that I suddenly seemed to have a career, went to another dotcom company and a couple of other agencies since then. Going back and forth between Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York was wearing me thin, so I made a decision to live full-time in LA in 2002. Now I work in what’s called “branded entertainment”; it’s a cross between advertising, digital, and the entertainment industries. Sometimes – as a side activity - I actually throw my hat into the ring of producing something that is supposed to be entertaining, be it theatre or sports or television. And yes, whenever I hear the song TEQUILLA, I do still do the Pee-Wee Herman dance.
No kids yet. No spouse yet. I don’t even have a dog. But the time is getting right to think about acquiring some of those things. Can I get them online????
So here I am in beautiful Southern California nestled in the Hollywood Hills with the Hollywood Bowl as one neighbor and the Pacific Ocean as another. If any of you get out this way, feel free to give me a call or email. I am planning on coming to the reunion and I am VERY excited to connect with everyone again.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
