I can't believe 20 years has passed! I often meet people and think, wow, they look really old, only to find out they are my age! I then wonder, do I look that old?
Well, here goes my exciting bio . . .
After high school I graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan with a Bachelor's degree in Business (with an emphasis in Psychology -- I tend to use my emphasis more than my major, being a mom and all, I realize I should have listened better in these classes!). I married Brian Homes in 92 (better known as Homer, he graduated in 87). I worked at a publishing company (Peed Corporation, now known as Sandhills Publishing) on a computer magazine in Lincoln for five years in marketing. Then, I had my first child!
After having a child, I got it! I got what life is really about. So, I quit my full-time job and started working part-time for Budget Blinds (a company my old boss started).
Then we moved to Wahoo, a great little town where everyone knows everyone, and their business! And, I love it! In fact, I must have promoted it a little too much because my parents and my sisters (Pam and Melissa) both got married and live here as well. I can't say I ALWAYS love that, but overall it's nice to have babysitters around every corner! Pam adopted twin girls from Korea (they are now 18 months old, Sloan and Sienna), and Melissa has two children, Kylee (10), Landon (18 months), and she is expecting again. They both married two great guys from Wahoo. It's just one big happy family. Well, on most days!
Now, I have a part-time cleaning business in Wahoo which allows me the flexibility to hang with my kids. I thought once my girls got into school I would go out and get a "real job." I am still looking for that "perfect" real job (if it even exists!). I am also a full-time volunteer! People seem to think if you work part-time that you have all the time in the world to volunteer. So, I coach all my girl's teams, volunteer for our PTO, and just about everything else you can volunteer for (wow, college really prepared me for my life!)
Two girls later, I realize life moves too fast and every year I want to freeze my girls at the age they are! Then, every year they get more fun! Luckily my girls take after Brian as far as being a little shy. It makes you realize how much of a pain in the *** I was for my parents!
My girls are involved in everything! My goal is to keep them so busy they won't have time to come up with the things that I used to do! We keep busy with dance (I need a job just to pay for this!), soccer, softball, basketball, guitar lessons, and volleyball. And, they are going to be tall! I am so jealous! Taylor, my oldest, is supposed to by 6'2" (she is alreay 5'1" at 10 years old and wears a women's size 10 in shoes), and Macy is supposed to be 5'11"! They say if you double their height at 2 1/2 years old (age 3 for boys), that will tell their height!
Okay, I realized my bio must be running long, hopefully I didn't bore you! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion. I will work on getting pictures downloaded!
