In the past twenty years I have learned:

Old friends are still the best kind to have. My parents do know a lot. Checks really bounce. My first born was my first true love. The college degree and the “big” job title sometimes result in long hours at the office around people with even longer agendas. Attitude is everything. Positive things happen when you surround yourself with positive people. My dream job is to sell hot dogs and cold beer on a warm, sandy beach (barefoot of course). Money doesn't buy happiness, but a little bit sure does help.

Staying up late into the night can lead to 3 a.m. diaper changes months later. My husband is proof that dreams do come true. My three sons are proof that God answers prayers. My children are my greatest investments. Even so, sometimes I still fantasize about running away from home! Three words you never want to hear your toddler say, “There’s poopy everywhere!” Three words you always want to hear your teen that drives say, “Mom, I’m home.”

Words to live by from a fortune cookie: nature, time and patience are great physicians.

Sleep deprivation got me addicted to lattes. Stretch marks are distinctions of honor, grey hair is expensive to conceal and wrinkles can still be disguised as laugh lines. Simple is best. I am old enough to know better, but young enough that I don’t always say no.

Old rock is still the only rock.
