Today's Featured Biography
James Guffey
I graduated from NC State in 1992 with a degree in chemical engineering. I met my wife, Pamela, during college, and we were married in December, 1992.
Burned out from studying too much for too long, I took a job at a paper mill in Roanoke Rapids, NC. After over 2 years, I had enough of crawling on pipes at 2 am and accepted a job in Charlotte. I again changed jobs in 1999 and now work for an engineering/consulting company as a project manager. I am a licensed professional engineer.
Pamela and I have lived in eastern Gaston County, near Stanley, since 1995. We have three healthy and happy children who keep us very busy. Pamela home schools the kids, so I am also their principal. We are active at our church, where I teach the 1st-3rd grade boys Royal Ambassadors.
I have developed a bit of a photography hobby, and combined it with a life-long interest in railroads. I had several train shots published in a photo essay in the November, 2005 Our State magazine. I have also had a few other scenic shots in Our State, as well as photos in several railroad magazines and calendars. I have linked my website (which still needs a lot of work). I also shoot sports and dance locally.
