Today's Featured Biography
Jan Blaskee
After completing my Master's degree, plus coursework for a Ph.D, at Michigan State, I joined Cummins Engine Company, working in the field of employment, selection and employee development. After 6 successful years there, I was recruited to American Hospital Supply Corporation in Chicago, where I worked in executive succession and development for ten years--traveling extensively in the US and internationally. Thereafter, I was recruited to Spectra Physics (the world's largest laser manufacturer) in Silicon Valley as Vice-President, Human Resources. Three years later we sold the Company to Ciba-Geigy. At that point I left the corporate world and became a Partner at Korn Ferry International, the world's largest retained executive recruiting firm. There I built a specialty practice in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices. Two + years later I started my own retained executive search company in the same specialty areas. I recruited CEO's, Presidents and senior company executives. In the course of 15 years I averaged 150,000 air miles a year. In 2006 I retired.
My wife, Mary, and I live atop a hill in the Ojai Valley. We are active organic gardeners and stay fit with a combination of walking, running and workouts at the gym. We enjoy travel, antiquing, a ranch in Idaho, cooking and good wine.
Son Brooke (age 39) and his wife, Erica, live and work in Sydney, Australia--both in the digital advertising world...a good excuse to travel down under.
Retirement is a delight. I have been active in the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy which is focused on preserving and restoring open space in the Ojai Valley where we live. In 2014 I plan to be a mentor to early stage companies in the area of business strategy and effective internal management practices. My wife and I are selling our Idaho ranch and in the midst of planning a new house in Sandpoint, Idaho overlooking Lake Pend O'Reille We're happy and fulfilled and feel fortunate to enjoy the good life.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
