Jeffrey Ayers

Since Kenwood my life has taken a new direction every so many years. It took me more than the standard 4 years to get my degree with 3 years at ECC and another 2 years at Towson State (the normal school). In between I spent some time in the Army National Guard and did active duty at Ft Bragg, NC and Aberdeen Proving Grounds. I taught Kindergarten and 1st grade for 12 years and was then promoted to and eventually became Director of Facilites Managment for 17+ years for Harford County Public Schools. (Norm Seidel and I saw each other nearly everyday since his job was Director of School Transporation.....small world but Norm and I have known each other since 8 year old Stembridge Lil League)

Kathy and I were married on June 29th 1980 and Mr. Joe DiCara sang at our wedding. We have two beautiful, smart intelligent successful children. (Meghan and Jake) Both are college Grads (Meghan/Randolph Macon and Jake UMD) Both were highly successful in sports in Harford County Meghan playing soccer and lax and Jacob playing soccer, b-ball and baseball. (NOrth Harford High School) ( Jacob was named Harford County Player of the Year his senior year for basketball 2003). They both were able to succesfully turn this into a Division III career at the respective colleges. Jake spent two years at Villa Julie before deciding he wasnt going to be the next MJ and transferred to UMD.

We live on 6 acres in Pylesville and my Dad and I plus some help from others built the house from the ground up. I have raised a slew of farm animals over the years and am now a miniature donkey farmer. These precious lil things are just too cute and just as sweet as they can be. I currently own 8 with lil 2 month old April in the fold with another on the way from Pearl. (anyday now) I also own 3 alpacas, chickens, ducks, peacocks, dog and cat. Plus an assorted collection of wild birds that visit the houses we have strategically placed thru-out the property.

Our home is littered with antiques that we have collected over the years. Always have enjoyed older things and also appreciated the craftmanship.

I am very fortunate to be here on this earth since I have had a couple of close medical calls within the last few years. 2002 I underwent a valve sparing ascending aortic aneurysum repair. Essentially they broke open my chest and cut out 4 inches of my aorta and replaced it with what I call 4 inches of garden hose. I have a nice 12 inch scar on my chest. ;-) I have also had a close call with a sinus surgery in 06 in which I had my turbinates reduced and unfortunately the surgeon unknown to he and me nipped an artery in my nose and it did not appear until 3 days after I came home. I was in ICU at Upper Cheasapeake for 7 straight days. I came very close to bleeding to death when the couldnt carterize the artery.

After my heart surgery I went back to work which was a high stress 24/7.....365 days a year....with a very large amount of direct reports to me work force and lasted about an additional 12 months until I decided to stop and smell the roses. I retired from HCPS with 30 years.

I now work part time at the Whiteford Feed Mill in Whiteford a couple of days a week from 8-12. Don't make a whole lot of money but I get a great discount on my feed and supplies for my babies!! ;-)

I also became a certified baseball umpire doing lil league games as well as Harford Co High School games and of course the Ripken complex in Aberdeen. Havent done any games for the past two summers since I had a right hip replacement performed in March of 09. I am the essential Steve Austin....."we can make him better, faster, stronger....yada...yada...yada....6 million dollar man! (to bad they couldnt make me look better or slimmer!!!)

Well thats about it and I am so sorry I missed the 60th party. Long story short I was with out transportation that day since I was having my vehicle worked on. It was promised to me by that Friday before and of course it wasnt ready. But I will sure be at the next one!
