Today's Featured Biography
Barbara Luke Kelly
After graduating from SMN, I attended Emporia State University for 2 years then transferred to the University of Kansas School of Nursing, graduating with my BSN in 1990. I stayed at KU Med for 12 years, working in adult critical care, operating room and neonatal intensive care unit. I got married in the fall of 1990. I worked full time until my oldest son Jacob was born in 1995. Luke was born in 1997. I've been fortunate enough to only work part-time since then. I enjoy having the flexibility to be involved in their school activities. I divorced in 2000. I went to work at St. Luke's South in the maternity unit in 2002. That was a tough year for us, as we lost my dad to cancer. My boys are students at Bluejacket-Flint, which is where I attended, and 2 of the teachers there now were there way back then. Last year I also became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I have stayed in touch with a few people from SMN and am really looking forward to seeing everyone at our 20th reunion.
