Today's Featured Biography

Lee Schneider

Moved to Mattoon 1965 to begin second grade living off Rudy. Completed 2 & 3rd before moving further east and changing schools.
Went to Jefferson Jr. High. Attempted running for the track team and succumbed to shin splints. Joined the workforce at
Taylor's IGA grocery store. After a couple of years switched to Walgreen Drug store.
I am thankful for my many childhood friends who helped to shape me. Funny thing along the way some of the bullies became friends.
I think we all take our bruises either internally or externally along life that shape us, hopefully for the betterment of all.
Friends on the playground helped me learn the game of basketball and baseball. I was never very good but did enjoy all the teamwork.
I credit classmates with encouraging me in other ways too. I was asked to join Cub Scouts at each grade school and then into Boy Scouts. I was involved in 3 different troops as a youth but never stayed focused enough to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Well, onto high school and grinding out the years to graduation.
My mom encouraged me to pursue a career in pharmacy. So I attended and completed the 5 year program at Drake University. I have been an official Registered Pharmacist since 1981. I have worked for several companies but only changed once by termination.
Carol and I have been married since 1992.
We raised David and Amy both attending Hope Lutheran School in Shawnee, KS and graduating from Lutheran High of Kansas City.
One of my passions is still the Scouting Program. David began Cub Scouts in grade 1.
I watched him grow and became his den leader in 4th grade. Then we joined Boy Scouts.
David earned his Eagle Scout rank and I was Scoutmaster of the troop for 6 years and continue to be active since David moved on to college.
The ideals of kindness, citizenship, leadership, community and God to name but a few and the framework to allow each person to develop at their own pace makes me smile......
I hope everyone takes the time to know God. When I say know him I mean developing a relationship in the same manner of any other friend you may have. It's as simple as sharing with him in words or thoughts throughout each day.
I was baptized as an infant and the Holy Spirit was with me even though I may not have understood it all. As a family we said prayers around the dinner table. We attended church. It was not until grade school I remember telling a classmate that God was with me. I am not sure what brought that on but I remember it as important.
Trust me my relationship with God has waivered over the years. Thankfully He has brought me back to a relationship. Friends and family help in the process. It's a God thing. I cannot fully understand God but is wants a relationship with each one of us. It is never too late and we can never do anything too bad that god cannot forgive us.
