After graduation from DDEHS, I worked as a secretary in a brokerage firm on LaSalle Street in the Chicago Loop. In September, 1967, at age 17, I married my high school sweetheart, Bill Hermann. He was in the Marines and we moved to California. I have lived in California for the past 40 years and have worked in the law business from then until now. Bill and I divorced after a brief marriage and I married Randy Tomer in 1975. We had three children. Two died as infants. Our third child, Renee, is now a 26 year-old married woman living in Texas where she earned a bachelor's degree after serving in the Army, deployed to Afghanistan as an Arabic linguist.
Randy and I divorced in 2002 after 27 years of marriage. I have had my own paralegal business, Pacific Paralegal, for the past 12 years. I work out of my home office doing contract work for attorneys. My work remains challenging and interesting, sometimes taking me out of my office for travel around beautiful Northern California. In my liesure time I love to hike in the mountains, canoe on the rivers and lakes, and in general do anything that gets me out into the wilderness.
Another interest of mine is design and architecture. In 1987 I designed and built a home in the redwoods overlooking the Pacific. Now I live about 150 miles inland from the coast and last year renovated a 1930-built English Tudor cottage that I purchased as my home in 2001. This work inspired me to start another business, Cottage Renovations.
On June 17, 2007, I married Alex Savedra, a wonderful man I met last year. Alex and I plan to develop our business into renovations of small cottages for daily rentals for business or vacationing travelers.
Best wishes to everyone for a great time at the reunion.
