Today's Featured Biography
Lora Port Garrison
Although I graduated with the class of '87, '88 will always be my class at heart. I graduated from Baylor in 1991. I met Scott at Baylor and married him one month after graduation. I then worked as a social worker and went to graduate school until completing my MS in gerontology in 1994. Three days after completing my degree, our first son was born; and I have been a "stay-at-home" mom ever since. We moved to the Tulsa, OK area in 1995. I never pictured myself settling in Oklahoma, but we actually really like it. We are blessed with great friends, great schools, a great church, and much milder winters than Iowa. I couldn't ask for much more!
Scott and I stay incredibly busy with the lives and activities of our three kids (ages 13, 10, and 8). Sports, scouts, dance, band, plays--we are exhausted, but thoroughly enjoying it all. Now that I have a teenager, I think of many of you often as I relive the drama of junior high social life. Yikes!
The saddest event of my life since graduation was the death of my mother in 2003. I will always miss her so much, but I am rejoicing with my Dad as he has found a new wife with whom to share his life. Amazingly, she is from just North of Ames (Webster City). (He and Mom moved to Nashville several years ago). So, my last trip to Ames was for their wedding last summer. I showed my family all my favorite places and even got to give them a tour of Ames High! Ames will always have a very special place in my heart.
