Today's Featured Biography
Mike Bloodworth
After '79 BHS graduation, I went to Mars Hill College in North Carolina. I played football,(against Clay Thompson at Liberty) ran track, joined a fraternity, later started a fraternity, did some radio and some drama, got a BS degree in Business Administration.
Married Cindy Howell from Parkview before my senior year, beginning a 22 year chapter that closed at the end of 2004.
Worked for Procter & Gamble in VA BEACH, VA for one year out of school, then moved back to ATL, GA with John H. Harland for 5 years. Before leaving Harland opened a Great Clips salon near spaghetti junction in January 89.
Had children in 91 and 92 as we were growing the Great Clips biz. By 97 we were involved in the ownership of 40+ salons in 4 markets with various equity partners. It was brain damaging growth, but fun.
Now I'm the sole owner of 19 Great Clips, 11 in NC & 8 in the ATL. I'm a minority owner in 10 or so Raleigh Great Clips. Great Clips has been good to me.
I'm currently living in Chadwick Lakes in Lawrenceville, GA with wifey Janet who I married on Black Friday 2012 on cousin Jay's yacht at the mouth of Tampa Bay. Also with us is my Harleys, a 2014 CVO Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic and a 2000 Road King Classic.
Josh is about to graduate from Young Harris College in May 2016 with a degree in ART. He has worked summers at Talisman Camps, where he is a counselor & art director to the autistic kids that attend.
Jonathan lives in Lawrenceville and works at Cheeky Taqueria in Suwanee and just started at O'Charlie's at The Mall of GA. He wants to get an education in something Technology related to build on his future.
Janet's son Kyle will graduate from Veteran's High School near Perry & Warner Robins in May 2006 and will likely attend Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama and play baseball there as a pitcher. Faulkner is a powerhouse in NAIA Division 1 and was recently ranked #1 in the nation.
Life is good. Life is short too so I try to live it to the fullest while I'm still alive. I encourage everyone to adapt a little or a lot of that into their own life.
