Marion Bagnal

After graduation I entered Georgia Tech in June 1959 on the Co-op Program in Civil Engineering. Graduated in June 1964 with B.S. in Civil Engineering. Co-oped every 3 months with Southern Railway System Engineering Dept in Cincinnati Ohio.I met Cheryl Armstrong in Church in September 1959 and we were married in July 1967. I started my Career with DuPont in Camden SC in August 1964 after completing my ROTC Camp and was commissioned a 2nd LT in the Corp of Engineers.I entered the Army in Septemberr 1964 for 2 years. I was stationed at Fort Bragg N.C. and was deployed twice to combat zones, Dominican Republic in May 1965 and Vietnam in January 1966. Received the Bronze Star in Vietnam along with several other medals. After our marriage in July 1967 we were living in Camden SC. Our son John was born in Jan 1970. He attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1992 with a dual degree in Chemistry and Biology. John then attended Dartmouth Medical School and graduated in 1997. Upon graduation he did a year of surgery in Pasadena Calif and then 3 years of residency in Anesthesiology at Harvard's Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston Massachusetts.He taught there one year after graduating and then moved to California and worked at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He died in 2003 with an aggressive cancer. Cheryl and I have been married now 55 years. With DuPont we lived and worked in Camden,SC, Wilmington DE, Richmond VA, LaPorte Texas, Manati Puerto Rico, Jonesboro Arkansas, Glasgow Delaware, Leeds England, and finally back to Wilmington Delaware. I retired from DuPont in 2001 and then consulted with them until 2015. We have lived in Fair Hill Maryland since 1996 and plan to move to Aiken, SC in 2022. Cheryl is a Cardiovascular OR/ICU Registered Nurse who is also retired. She worked with Denton Cooley the famous heart surgeon when we live in Texas.She has many hobbies but loves to ride her horse and continues to do so. We volunteer at many horse competitions in Maryland, Omaha, Los Vegas, Lexington KY. I got my Real Estate License in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania in 2017 and am trying to keep busy and active selling real estate. Our travels over the years have allowed us to visit many countries in Europe, Africa, South America, Canada, Mexico, Antarctica, and all 50 states.
