Karin Kramer

I can't believe it has been 30 years since high school. I like to believe that I can't be old enough for that. Anyway, Randy is still putting up with me after 31 years. He still works on the family farm. We moved back to Holyoke as soon as I finished school. We have been here ever since. I think I took it harder when Bret (our oldest) turned 30 than when I turned 30. He and Lori live in Wray which is close enough for Randy and I to get a granddaughter fix pretty often. We are completely wrapped around those little fingers. Bret works for the post office there and he and Lori are very active in church activities at St. Andrews. Kandi is working on a masters degree in Denver at Regis and works for Johnson and Wales University. She had been living in Washington D.C. and working for National Right to Life. I am so tickled to have her so much closer. Todd will forever be two years old to us. Even though it has been 24 years since he lost his fight with neuroblastoma, the lessons we learned of his strength and the kindness of others are still fresh in our minds. Kassi and her husband live in Portland Oregon where Raymond works for Symantec and Kass works for an insurance benefits distribution service. We are lucky that she can come back two or three times a year but would love to have her closer. Chad is going to be a senior at CSU. He doesn't get home too often either. He is working for Pioneer Seeds this summer. He and Katie plan to get married next summer after graduation. One of the many blessing in my life is that I have never "had" to work. As a consequence I have been able to try a lot of different things. The list of things I can't or shouldn't do has gotten a bit lengthier than I would have liked but on the other hand I have had a lot of fun trying. My very favorite trial career was writing for a religious ed curriculum and having my work published. Unfortunately, the company sold and the new bosses wanted only in house writers so my career lasted only three years. I also loved volunteering at the school and church . I have taught religious ed for over 20 years at St. Patrick's. At school I have been on just about every committee there is over the years. Lately I have volunteered to read to children and to make butter while dressed in period attire. I wish everyone had the same enthusiasm for learning as first graders. Somewhere along the way I learned how to do cake decorating. I don't like to sell them but I do enjoy teaching children how to do it. They are so excited when they master a technique. I have been judging 4-H projects at fairs the last few years and what I have learned is that I would not like to compete against most of these kids. In 1991 I was diagnosed with MS. Since I move pretty slowly naturally so its hard to tell when I am having symptoms. Actually I have been very lucky that it has progressed very slowly. These past 30 years have flown by. I hope the next 30 are just as fun but don't go by quite as fast.
