Today's Featured Biography
David Gaston
Hi Everyone--
After high school I went to UCA (choir scholarship) in Conway and got a teaching degree in History. Save for a summer or two I haven't been back to Springdale for an extended period of time.
After college I got a job coaching basketball at Palestine-Wheatley High School, a small school west of Forest City. I worked there for four years and had a pretty good time coaching, it helps when you have good players.
Elizabeth, whom I met in the choir at UCA, had just graduated from Pharmacy School and we got married in 1995. When we returned from the honeymoon we headed to Oxford, MS.
I had the opportunity to work with the Ole Miss Men's Basketball program for a couple of years while I got my Master's Degree. During that time I figured out that I liked the university setting and college towns and was able to get a job in the Ole Miss Career Center.
In 2003, Jenna Catherine came along, an extroverted child in an introverted household. She will try and strike up a conversation with just about anyone and be dissapointed if she doesn't get an answer.
Not long after Jenna joined us I interviewed at the University of Kansas to lead the University Career Center. By some stroke of luck I got the offer and we moved to Lawrence.
Jenna is almost four and we have a hard time keeping up. I have no idea how people with four or five do it. God bless you!
