To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ralph Waldo Emerson

They say that the Boomers are the first generation that didn't grow up! I still think of myself as 18 but my body has a better memory!
I've had a good life, not always easy, but good. But who of you haven't faced challenges and overcome them? Remember? We are the Overcomers!
Here are the basics: I have been married to Bill Sharman for 32 years. He is my exact opposite so you tell the story! We've worked hard on our differences and today have a wonderful testamony to God's Faithfullness. Ours is a marriage filled with love, humor, understanding and --- intensity! Wha-hoo!!
We have three kids, Julie (31) the oldest is a dental hygienist and married to Kevin, a Lake Oswego Jr. High math teacher. They have a 14 month girl who is a character just like her mom.
Janna (29), our middle, lives with her husband Todd who works at Red Lion Corporate in Spokane. They have two adopted Korean kids who share time at their mother's and a 14 month miracle boy, born 3 days after his counterpart in Portland. He is an invitro baby and the process has just begun again on their last attempt! Multiples?!!
Josiah (27) is our unmarried artist living in downtown Portland still trying to figure out the right direction to take. He did his four years in the Air Force and is glad that he is now out.
Bill and I spent seven of the first eleven years of our marriage on the mission field as Christian missionaries mostly with Youth With A Mission. The kids came really soon and fast so they just came along with us. I wouldn't necessarily advise doing life like that, but we had some really interesting experiences. We've lived in all the west coast states: Washington, Oregon, California, and then Hawaii and the country of Israel.
We now live in the rural town of Oroville CA. right on the edge of the Sierra Nevada foothills. We are right above Lake Oroville, and the largest dam in America! (Yes, it is 50 feet taller than Hoover!) We are known for being in the center of Gold Country, lake and stream fishing, water sports of all kinds, a Mediterranean climate, fruit and veggie agriculture of all kinds, and a friendly town. It is warm here with a short moderate winter. I love the sun!
Bill and I are small business owners. We publish an advertising magazine that is a real hit in our community. It pays the bills and allows us to do what we are passionate about. We've also started one in Salem OR, so Bill travels between the two depending on the publishing schedule.
The most fulfilling thing we do now is to introduce people to God's chosen land and people. Once or twice a year we arrange to take 20 - 30 people to Israel and the Middle East or Mediterranean. It has been an experience to take people's Bible from black and white to living color!!
Our only unfulfilled wish is to live closer to our kids and grandkids, so maybe there might be one last move in us in order to bring us back north. Who knows what the future will bring. Obviously we haven't been afraid to move and start over, but, AGAIN, at our age? Oh, that's right, I'm only 18 and I can do anything!! Yeah right!!
I am looking forward to this summer's reunion and reconnecting again with you!
See you soon!
