I graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1969 with a BA in Chemistry. I attended Chemistry graduate school at Oklahoma University for a semester and a half, but lost my motivation and dropped out of school. I worked at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for about 6 months, and then worked for Cities Service Cryogenics for about 3 years in Southwest Kansas, testing and analyzing the process streams in a Helium extraction plant. I moved to Weatherford in 1969, beginning work for 3M Company when they built a factory there. The products made there were printing plates and proofing products for the commercial printing industry. I was involved in the plant startup as a process engineer, and worked there in several supervisory and management positions. In 1990 I transferred to 3M headquarters in St. Paul, MN, where I did process research and managed a pilot plant. 3M spun us off as Imation in 1996, and I returned to Weatherford to continue working in the plant. Imation sold us off to Kodak, and I continued to work until there was a downsizing in 2005, and I was "retired". I piddled a while, and then took a job as a "Hotshot" truck driver for the oilfield for nearly a year, but business picked back up and I returned to work at the Kodak plant for a little more than two years, but as of May 1, 2009, I was downsized again. I now plan to stay retired.
I married Carolyn Sanders in 1964. She grew up in the Cogar/Binger, OK area, and moved to OKC while in gradeschool. I met her at church while attending OCU. We have two sons. James (Skeet) is our oldest son, and he has two children- Jessa, age 14 and Jayden, age 13. He is disabled due to sports injuries and car accidents, and currently lives with us, along with his daughter, Jessa. Jason, our youngest son, lives in Woodward. He and his wife are medical doctors. Jason works ER exclusively, while his wife, Kathy, works in a clinic and delivers babies. They have 3 children: Jacquelyn (9); James Preston (7); and Jaelynn (4). So, our grandkid count is five, and they are WONDERFUL! My dad, Wesley Ray (age 89), still lives north of Elk City on the farm, although he is getting in pretty bad shape and has a lot of difficulty getting around.
