Bill Lohmar

Ann Earls and I were joyously married December 26, 1966. Hans, our first son, was born in Radford, Virginia, in October 1971. Eric, our second son, was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, in January 1975. Ann and I are both graduates of the University of Arkansas.

Bill retired after 34½ years working as a civilian for the Navy doing mostly reliability and availability in naval ship design in the Washington DC area. Ann retired about the same time after a career of public elementary school teaching, church pianist, private school music and education teaching and maintaining the household plus most importantly raising our boys. We have always been active in a local Baptist church wherever we lived. After retirement we moved to Fayetteville AR in the Ozarks and the Boston Mountain range.

Ann is an accomplished pianist and teacher. She has taught in school systems in three states including two of the largest in the country. She combined these two loves by teaching piano in her own piano studio. She was our church pianist for twenty-five years at Belle View Baptist Church in Alexandria VA. She plays for other events, organizations, and occasions. She currently teaches one of the children’s choirs in our church. Ann volunteers as an entry counselor for a local social service organization.

We enjoy traveling and outdoor activities. We have been to most states in addition to Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia and England. We enjoy the variety and beauty of God’s creation as we travel in addition to some human creations. We spent our 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. We have visited most states.
We have both remained active in our church over the years and have had the opportunity to serve in many different positions. Bill has completed multiple missions trips to Mississippi helping to rebuild/repair Katrina damage and survey and witness in local neighborhoods. Bill is also a member of an Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief Feeding Unit providing meals after disasters strike. We have renewed old friendships and developed many new friends since moving back to Arkansas.
Bill is currently an active member of the Technical Advisory Group to the Technical Committee 56 Dependability of the National Committee of the American National Standards Institute. Bill is a member of the Society of Reliability Engineers and a past president of the Washington DC chapter. Bill is a member and former director of the RMS Partnership. He was a Senior Member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers for over 39 years. He has the highest Department of Defense Acquisition Professional Level III Certification in Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering; Test and Evaluation Engineering; Business, Cost Estimating, and Financial Management; and Quality Assurance. Bill received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service award and medal in addition to many other lower awards during his career.
