I graduated from Southwest Minnesota State in 1973 with a degree in Mathematics and from the University of Colorado in 1975 with a Masterís in Applied Mathematics. I went to work in the space and defense industry with TRW in Redondo Beach, CA, staying in the industry for 37 years through my retirement from Northrop Grumman (which bought TRW in 2002) in 2012. After a 5-year IT consulting gig in Las Vegas ended, I retired for good in 2017.
I met Tracey OíNeill, a 3rd-generation southern Californian, at TRW and we married in 1988. While living in Huntington Beach, we had 3 kids: Trevor (1991), Haley (1993) and Katelyn (1995). In 2007, the family moved to the Washington, D.C. area in northern Virginia for a job promotion. Tracey and I currently live in Ashburn, VA. Trevor is working for Northrop Grumman in McLean, VA, Haley is employed at a live music venue near Harvard in Boston, and Katelyn is with a gaming software company in Rockville, MD. The kids are still single, so grandchildren remain possible, but not imminent. Thatís just fine by us.
As a retiree, Iím spending more time pursuing long-time interests in history, particularly military and aviation history, Minnesota town baseball history, and family history and genealogy, including photography and video projects for family and friends. I spent decades playing basketball, softball, tennis, volleyball and golf. Though my golf game remains mediocre, that will likely be my retirement sport of choice. Isnít that what retirees are supposed to do?!
