Today's Featured Biography
Mary Ellen Godbout Eliasen
I was born in North Adams, MA in 1954, the middle daughter of a seamstress and textile worker. I attended Johnson grade school with many of my Drury alums, however, we were separated during junior high as half went to Freeman and half went to Brayton Jr. High. Many of us were reunited upon entrance into Drury except for those who chose to attend St. Joe or McCann. I worked part-time after school from freshman year at the Berkshire County Probation office, the superintendent of school's office and for Attorney Lionel Richard, where I began full time upon graduation. I stayed with Atty Richard as his legal secretary until 1981 then worked for the law office of Manuel & Manuel. From there, I went on to be a billing clerk at a packaging firm, and an executive secretary for Patten Corporation and Williams College. I did spend 16 years married but decided I wanted more out of life and ventured out on my own. WOW--what a shock! The very first place of my own. I still wasn't sure what I wanted to be when I grew up so 17 years after leaving Drury, I went back to McCann Technical School for one year full time to train as a medical assistant. I turned in my legal jargon and administrative background to take on a new role in medicine. I then worked at Williamstown Medical Associates for 10 years and 10 years following that for Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont as a medical transcriptionist. Technology has a way of changing one's profession and speech recognition became a reality leaving the security of being a medical transcriptionist in the dust. I then decided to go full circle and join the law firm of Donovan & O'Connor but that wasn't a good fit so I am most recently working as a radiology support specialist at Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams. From high school graduation to my current position, I'm back in the medical field. Hoping this is my last move until retirement--counting the years and envy all my classmates who have already retired!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
