After graduation, I attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina for 2 years, then transfered to the University of Kansas where I received my degree in occupational therapy.
I met my husband, Ron, at my first job in a mental health facility. (I swear we were both staff members!) We have 2 children - our daughter Jordan is 17 and a junior at Shawnee Mission South High School and very into theater. She just played the lead in an all school musical in February. Our son Sam is 12 and a 6th grader and is both a budding musician (alto sax) and a math whiz (something he did not inherit from his mother!).
I have been employed at The Children's SPOT at St. Luke's Hopsital since 1987. We provide Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy services to children with developmental delays such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and many other disabilities. I also provide OT services at a private grade school in KC,MO. The work is incredibly rewarding and I cannot think of anything else I would rather be doing as a career - however, once my knees give out, I don't know how I'll manage crawling around after 2 and 3 year olds!
For those of you who had my father as your Jr. High principal, he and mom are both doing pretty well. They retired in Baldwin City, KS and keep busy with church, grandkids events and watching the Jayhawks play basketball! My dad just had his second total knee replacement last month and is beginning to move around a little better- he hopes to try it out on the golf course in early June.
