Today's Featured Biography
Lena Wren Pottenger
I had every intention to attend the reunion this summer but all my plans went out the door. I was hoping to catch up with everyone in person but I am thrilled to see our classmates are continuing to update their information on this website. Email me anytime! I periodically visit my parents who live in Pocatello but not nearly enough and would love to have lunch.
So much as happened in 20 years, were do I begin? After graduating high school, I moved to several different states (within one year) before settling down in Boise, Idaho. I joined the Idaho Army National Guard in 1988 and served our country for 9 years. I was also a federal employee serving the Idaho Army National Guard full time, Monday – Friday. I worked in finance, payroll, AASF support, and the personnel office in the benefits section. In 1997, I decided it was time to turn in my uniform and try something different. I landed a job with the US Geological Survey, Water Division as their Personnel Assistant, a job that I absolutely loved.
In February of 1998, shortly after starting my new career, Matt and I were married. We lead a simple life including working hard and playing hard. Life changed dramatically when we discovered we were going to be parents. A year and a half after our wedding we had our daughter, Khyla. Since then, our lives have been a whirlwind. When Khyla was about 9 months old, we moved to Utah. Matt’s company asked him to open up territory for their business. We jumped at the opportunity, which was going to allow me to become a stay at home mom. I was a little nervous since I had supported myself since graduating from high school. Within a few short weeks, I decided I loved my new career and embraced it whole-heartedly.
I have always had my hands in 2 or 3 fires at a time and this was no different. I joined MOMS Club and soon became Co-President of the local chapter. I started scrapbooking as an excuse to spend time with other stay at home moms and quickly discovered I loved it. I have sold various products part time as a way to keep busy and meet new people. I currently assist my husband in the office a few hours per week. I also assist my husband with his new invention, Kwik Catch, which we are starting to market this spring. The most important thing I have done in the past 6 years is having the opportunity to be a full time mom and I love it completely.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
