After graduating from SHS, I attended JBU in Siloam Springs for 1 year, then moved to UA in Fayetteville where I finished a BS in Agricultural Engineering in Jan. 1964.
At UA I met and married my wonderful wife, Janet Hope Smith Clark from Calico Rock, AR. We enjoy our three grown children and four grand-daughters. I thank the Lord for Janet and our family.
While a student at UA, one day a professor said "Clark, if you don't get a PhD and teach in a University, I will personally kick you!" The thought of a career teaching at the University level had never crossed my mind!
We then moved from Fayetteville to Raleigh, NC, where I completed a master's degree in engineering at NCSU in 1965. From there we moved to Starkville, MS, where I completed a PhD in engineering.
I joined the faculty at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, in August, 1968, and have lived here since then. It was a pleasure to teach and do research in engineering, particularly to see my students go on to succeed in a wide variety of companies.
After 34 years, I retired from UGA in 2002. We bought a motorhome and have enjoyed traveling for the last few years, including two trips to Alaska (yes, driving 5000 miles each way).
I pray that every one of my classmates from SHS will enter into a personal relationship with Jesus, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings!
