Upon graduation, I enlisted in the Air Force as one of the first female jet engine technicians. After basic training at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB) in San Antonio TX, and technical school at Chanute AFB in IL, I was assigned to McChord AFB in Tacoma WA where I worked on the engines for the C141 Starlifter cargo aircraft. I married my first husband there in 1974 and had my daughter in 1976. In 1978 I was transferred back to Lackland AFB as a military training instructor until 1982 when I was transferred to Travis AFB in Vacaville CA where I worked on the engines for the C5 Galaxy cargo aircraft. Sadly, my first husband passed away in 1983. In 1988, I married Brad and we merged our two families (my one and his three); we just celebrated our 25th anniversary in May. In 1991 we were transferred to Kadena AB in Okinawa Japan where I supervised the recovery and launch of all transient cargo aircraft, then returned to Travis AFB in 1994 where Brad retired from the Air Force; I retired the following year as a Master Sergeant. We then moved to San Antonio TX as employees of Lockheed Martin working on the C5 Galaxy engines until 1998 when we moved to Woodruff WI. We have four grandchildren, Aaron (1998), Joseph (2002), Madyson (2003), and Logan (2008).
