My wife (Barbara) and I currently reside in Scottsdale, Arizona. The weather is nearly perfect. However, I do miss the water of the Sound.
Since that great night in June in 1959 (50 YEARS AGO), my life has had some ups and downs but mostly positive activities.
My further education came from Fort Steilacoom College in Tacoma and Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage.
I retired from the United States Air Force in December 1983. My military career included managing Public Affairs Offices and American Forces Radio and Television Broadcast facilities.
I worked for years in commercial broadcast doing news and sports. I did a lot of play-by-play radio of college basketball games for years.
I have been a youth, high school and military basketball coach (26 years), and a youth, high school and adult baseball coach (19 years). Loved every moment!
I spent years as a fund development officer for the American Red Cross at the Mile High Chapter in Denver. I also worked in non-profit with the Alzheimers Association for Eastern Washington out of Spokane.
I have recently been through skin cancer surgery (twice) but it seems that now it is under control.
I lost sight in my left eye several years ago, I had eight eye surgeries, but I have learned to compensate quite nicely. I got back into writing and publishing again, to prove to me that my life wasn't over. I do however, know what the one-eyed Jack feels like!
I am still very proud of the fact that I graduated with such a distinguished group in 1959 from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard.
I am very sorry that we, as a class, have lost so many of our classmates. My prayers go to them and their families.
