Today's Featured Biography
Catherine Humphres Johnson
I have recently retired from my job of 31 years of teaching string orchestra and other music classes to students in grades Kindergarten through the university level. My favorite classes to teach have always been beginning and junior high strings, grades 5 - 9, which I know makes me strange but those age levels are really the most fun.
I am 31 years happily married to my childhood sweetheart, Blaine and he has helped me raise my two wonderful children, Peggy and Stephen. Peggy is a freelance cellist in LA doing studio and recording work and Stephen is a building contractor and has given me two delightful grandsons, Miles who is 12 and lives in Australia and Walker, age 31/2 who lives nearby.
I have continued playing my cello for the past 58 years and had a wonderful career of 29 years in the Tacoma Symphony from which I retired in 2003.
Since retiring, Blaine and I have travelled to Italy and Eastern Europe and are planning a jaunt to Turkey next. We figure we might as well go while we can still walk and carry our luggage.
I have loved raising my family and teaching music and now I love retirement. I look forward to seeing all my classmates again this year.
