Today's Featured Biography

David Werner

As you all remember, I went to East High for one year. Of course you don't remember! With 11th grade in Virginia and 10th grade on Okinawa, I can hardly remember. But it's been colorful since then. I went to WSU for 2½ years, OC for 2 yrs and Western for 4 years. This netted me an AA in General Studies and an AS in Computer Programming. So I went on the road - with sordid assorted 50s rock bands. After several years in Bellingham with Kickerville (country rock), I backed some Elvis impersonators, playing bass and singing the black chick parts. I also played with Kid Cola, then Johnny B and the Sneakers, doing Buddy Holly. Realizing (1) stardom is a matter of LUCK - it's who you know and being in the right place at the right time, and (2) there is no money in music, I tried to ply a trade and worked for Yakima County as a computer operator - graveyard shift. Sadly, I ran into some musicians and moved up - playing 60s music - Beatles, Stones, etc. Needless to say, that didn't work. After Manteca (lard, sp.) and Squeeky Cheeks (don't ask), I went back to school. From City University in Yakima (BS Accounting) and City University in Bellevue(MBA), I sat for the CPA exam passing all parts at my first sitting in 1989. It was there in my accounting class I met my first and only wife - Terri Watson of Naches. The nice thing was none of her monograms had to be changed. Then, like any married man, my life became a resumè, but, as varied as my education: Senior Services of Island County, Cascade Natural Gas, Cascade Air Gas, Northshore Utility District, et cetera ad nauseum. Then in 1990 I bought my grandparents' house on Petersville Road (you remember Bremerton), with a view of the Olympics; nice place to be from, not sure I want to live there. My brother and sister worked in the shipyard; my grandparents both retired from the shipyard. I thought I had escaped. But the house has such a nice view, several blocks from the Marx's. . . . more later
