Ben Swanson

Dudes, it’s been TOTALLY awesome reading all the stories, sha (little lingo flashback for ya from the ’80’s). After graduation I was in the Air Force for four years, and I was stationed in Germany and Turkey for the first Gulf War. I got out and came back to the University of Utah for my undergraduate degrees and graduate program in counseling psychology. I’m now a psychologist at Boise State University in Ideeho. I work with students doing individual and couple’s counseling, train new counselors, do research on preventing violence, and teach classes. My favorites are teaching Happiness as an online class, and yes, you can teach people how to increase the happiness in their lives, which is a way fun topic to teach, and I also enjoy teaching Exploring Gender through the Movies—pretty much getting paid to watch movies and talk about them. I’ve been married to Joann for ten years as of this November, which has been amazing. Feels like a little over a year max. She has her master’s degree in instructional and performance technology, graduated literally at the top of her class in grad school, and works at a local hospital creating trainings for the staff there. Not sure if we’ll be able to make the reunion at this point, but it would be great to hear from anyone. “What a long strange trip it’s been…”
