Today's Featured Biography
Donald Wagner
After graduation I attended Port Arthur Radio College, obtaining a First Radio Telephone, 2nd Telegraph and Ham Radio License. I immediately joined the USAF and continued my electronic experience. I eventually was in charge of the Airborne Radar Field Shop and held that position until leaving the AF. At this point in my life I made a career change and went to work at Goodyear as well as attending college part time. I also married the lady of my dreams, Judy Brannen (Class of '57). We have three children, two girls and a boy, who all received their college degrees. In 1972, after fifteen years at Goodyear, and as a Foreman of Maintenance and Production, I decided to make another career change. It was the best career change ever! I accepted an executive position at Mary Kay Cosmetics and moved to Dallas. I spent 25 wonderful years there, retiring as VP of Global Distribution in 1996. While at Mary Kay, we built a home on a lake outside of McKinney, TX, where we raised our children. In 1986 we felt it was getting too crowded in the area so we purchased a 120 acre ranch in NE TX and built our home. I commuted 80 miles each way, every day, before retiring. We were "Gentlemen" ranchers and farmers and enjoyed it until the fire ants, killer bees, grass hoppers, drought, etc. were too much. We sold out and moved to Washington State. We had been frequent visitors to WA for years and loved it. The weather is the best kept secret in the USA. Everyone thinks it rains all the time, so we let them. We purchased 40 beautiful wooded acres in WA and built our home in the middle of tall firs, alders, and maples. Mt. Rainier is 40 miles to the East and we are an hour from the Pacific Ocean and in the Cascade foothills....Perfect! I keep very busy with my hobbies which are keeping a beautiful lawn and flowers, gardening, and beekeeping. My beloved wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary on the 22nd of June, 2007.
