Event Announcement!

Mini Gathering in Blanco - 5/1 thru 5/2/2017

Monday,  May  1,  2017  -  4:00 pm

Headquarters Best Western Luxury Inn & Suites Blanco TX

Everyone pays for themselves - Rooms are 139.99 King Suite 119.99 King, Queen (2 queen beds) plus tax - meals are paid by each person

The event has been set, rooms have been blocked off.
The headquarters will be The Best Western Luxury Inn and Suites in Blanco. Call 830-833-5697 Call and Make your reservations by saying you are part of MHS Class of 1959.The hotel has a conference room at no charge if we fill 20 rooms. We will stick to the week day Monday thru Wednesday morning like we did last year in November in San Antonio. So we will spend Monday & Tuesday nights and leave after breakfast on Wednesday morning. Blanco is the home of the Lavender Fields which I am told are beautiful. The town is on the Blanco River and also there is a lovely state park located there. Please e-mail me at my lse3766@yahoo.com address and I will tell you what I know thus far. I will look forward to hearing from you.

Jay Wiginton is our boots on the ground for this event. There will be a golf outing. Golf outing will be held at The River Crossing Golf Club just north of Bulverde (about 20 minutes south of Blanco on Highway 281)Cost for golfing is $40 per person (cart is included, free driving range, balls and putting green). Jay has told them that we will have about 4 foursomes and he will confirm with the club before May 2, 2017. So if you are planning to play golf on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 please be sure to e-mail me or Jay Wiginton and get your name on the list. I can be reached via e-mail at lse3766@yahoo.com and Jay can be reached at jaywiginton@gvtc.com -Monday evening we will have dinner at The Red Bud Cafe. Each per/couple will order what they want and pay their own tabs. You order at the cashier counter and beer and wine are available. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 during the day will be the golf outing, those not wishing to do golf can go on a tour of the Lavender fields or you can go to Johnson City and look around there. Lanny Counts has offered to take folks who are interested on a tour of his goat ranch outside of Johnson City. It is called The Raging Waters Goat Ranch and Lanny said he should have several little "kids" for you to see frolic around. Marguerite and I took this tour in November when we were coming home from San Antonio. You can also explore around Blanco. I understand the library is a special place. The town is on The Blanco River and those who like to fish can probably get in some fishing. Dinner Tuesday evening will be at the Old 300 BBQ in Blanco. Cost per person is $10.99 and iced tea is provided in this cost. The meal is a buffet, consisting of pork ribs, brisket, sausage, potato salad and pinto beans, sometimes they have cole slaw also. Beer and wine are available for purchase. We will have a private room for that dinner. We will work on some sort of a program - perhaps those of you who still play instruments can treat us all to a program. Jim Hodges and Ken Rodgers always have entertained us in some way. A BBQ place would be a great venue for some good old country music. We will have breakfast on Wednesday which is provided by the hotel and then we will depart for our respective homes. A few Westerners have expressed their desire to join us and that is JUST FINE. So I know we have two or three folks coming from Lubbock and some others coming from areas nearby. So be sure to get your reservations for your rooms at the Best Western Luxury Inn and Suites.

Invite those you keep up with to join us as well. We always have such a good time. We look forward to seeing you all in May, 2017.

Today's Featured Biography

Syble Brown Brashear

For the past twelve years, most of my time and energy has been spent helping raise my three grandsons. They came to live with me in 2003 when they were 1, 3 and 5. Today they are 13, 15 and 17. The oldest boy, Tyson, will graduate from MHS in May. This journey has been very rewarding for me (and I hope it has been for them!). I love them dearly.
