Today's Featured Biography
Patrick Pellerin
Thinking about the 50th reunion, I realized that I have not lived in Houston since I left for LSU in the fall of 1961. During my freshman year my parents moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. (My brother, Bill, now lives in the Heights.)
After graduating from LSU I went on active duty in the Army, serving two years with an intelligence unit in Washington, DC and one year in Vietnam. I left the service as a Captain.
Following military service, I worked for four years for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, then with two large public relations/lobbying firms and started my own public relations/lobbying firm in 1985. During all that time I was fortunate to work on a number of interesting projects including the Bicentennial Celebration in Washington, acquiring landing rights for the Concorde supersonic aircraft in the US (one plane is now in a museum), and with a number of corporations and associations as clients. Of all the projects I worked on, none, in my view, was more significant than handling all the media relations for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from the announcement of the design through the dedication. It is still one of the most popular monuments in Washington.
Sally, who is originally from Michigan, and I live in a nice neighborhood in DC near American University. While I'm retired, Sally is still working -- she is the CEO of a major medical practice. We enjoy golf, gardening, reading, cooking, entertaining and travel. In 2010 we were part of a delegation to Vietnam sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and led by retired General Barry McCaffrey.
So, we stay busy and look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
