Today's Featured Biography
Robert Waltemeyer
YORK Robert L. Waltemyer, 87, of Springettsbury Twp., died Friday morning, September 19, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann (Eaton) Waltemyer, to whom he had been married for 57 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Thomas D. Bellis officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Mr. Waltemyer was born February 28, 1921, in Dallastown. He was the son of the late James Victor and Minerva (Hake) Waltemyer. He was a 1939 graduate of Dallastown High School and had been a salesman with various York area trucking companies, retiring from Shannahan's Express in 1992. Mr. Waltemyer was a member of the York, Harrisburg, and Lancaster Traffic Clubs. He was also an avid golfer and had been a member of the Out Door Country Club for many years. Mr. Waltemyer leaves a son, Todd R. and wife, Kathy Lamon Waltemyer of Dallastown; two daughters, Vicki A. Mead of York, and JoAnn and husband, Terry Brenneman of York; five grandchildren, Chris and Andy Brenneman, Chad Waltemyer, Betsy Stambaugh, and Abigail Mead; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Stambaugh, and Madison and Kamryn Brenneman; a sister, Marguerite Bixler of Wildwood Crest, N.J.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine siblings, Lloyd Waltemyer, Grace Seidenstricker, Bessie Morrison, Elmer Waltemyer Marion Waltemyer, Howard Waltemyer, Alfred Waltemyer, Woodrow Waltemyer, and Martha Folk. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice Services, 218 E. Market St., York, PA 17403; or the York Cancer Center Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Drive, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
