Don Hunter

Not lond after HS graduation I joined the Army and 15 yrs in active duty service. I had one tour in Viet Nam, 2 tours in S. Korea and numerous assignments which took me all over SE Asia and across the US. I recieved a medical seperation in 1985 due to some service connected disabilities and ended up in the Austin, TX area managing a security company and Travis Co. Sheriff Office. I returned to Oklahoma in 1989 and went to work for OU for a few years while I completed degree work in Law Enforcement Administraion. After leaving OU I worked as the Sales Manager for an armored truck company responsible for Oklahoma,and 5 other states as well as several national accounts coast to coast. Health issues forces me to leave that company in 2005 and I began working for DHS for just over a year when I was forced to medically retired completely. During the entire 20+ years that I have been back in Oklahoma I have worked as a Chaplain in a number of areas either as a second job or as a volunteer, ranging from hospitals to law enforcement. I am trained, certified and endorsed as a chaplain in healthcare, crisis intervention, crisis response, disaster relief, law enforcement, public/goverment works and facilities, rodeo chaplaincy and biker/motorcycle chalpaincy. I was an active member of the search and rescue operations rsulting from the Murrah Bld. Bombing and was cited by the US Department of Justice and the American Red Cross for my efforts immediately following the bombing and throughout the followup to completion of the trails. In August 2010 I retired from the Cleveland County Sheriff Office after a total combined 39 years of law enforcment experience both as a deuty and as a chaplain for the county. I currently pastor a small church in OKC, hold the position of state Chaplain for the American Legion, State Chaplain Mobilizer for the Baptist General Convention of Okla.(BGCO),American Legion Post 88 Chaplain, an active Disaster Relief Chaplain, head up the BGCO Biker Chaplain ministry and conduct training for those individuals desiring to become a biker chaplain. I am happily married with 3 grown children (one still at home) and five grand chrildren. I love to work in my wood shop, be in the yard, hunt, fish, play golf, horseback riding and being on my Honda Goldwing Trike. Life is Good!
