Today's Featured Biography

Judy Johnson Bayless

What a life!

After high school I attended OU, southwestern , and the last three years at the University of Arkansas with a degree in elementary education. Go Hogs Sooooieeee. I'm so excited that my grandson will follow in my footsteps at the U of A fifty years later.
Gene and I married after I graduated and lived in OKC for five years. Both of our children were born there. Jennifer is now 43 and is a financial advisor in Tyler,tx. Troy is 41 and is a salesman of home construction products. He lives in Divide, CO. I will say he gave me a few gray hairs before he grew up We moved to Dallas (Farmers Branch) after five years. One year we moved to several places: McAllen,Tx-OKC-Shreveport ,LA and finally back to Dallas where I lived for the next thirty years.
After we divorced in 1983 I stayed and raised my children in Farmers Branch. All this time I taught second and fourth grade.
In 1989 I took a part-time job with Delta Airlines in addition to teaching. After working in reservations for a few years I worked with funeral directors in shipping the deceased all over the world. I stayed with Delta until 9-11 when I was able to retire with a great package. I still love my life-time flying benefits when I can find the time.
In 1989 my parents came to live with me. They were a great help to me through my children's college years. Mother passed away in 1993 but dad lived to be 93 and then passed away in 2007. It was a pleasure to give back to them the great life and support they had always given to me.
Life after retirement has been great. After teaching for 33 years I retired in 2004to take care of dad. After he passed away I moved to Tyler, TX in 2007. I moved to help my daughter with the loves of my life: Zach is 18, Molly is 15, Cole is 12, and then there's Carter who is 2. Carter is keeping me young. He is a handful. I also have another love of my life. My precious Meadow is 3 , however she lives in CO so I don't get to see her as much as I would like.
. I am very involved with a newcomer's
group. I play a lot of bridge and mah johnn. I have made some wonderful friends. I am very blessed to be active in a Methodist Church in Tyler. I am the Singles Lay Leader. I also serve on the mission's team. I am a Marvin Mender This a group that repairs homes for others in Tyler and also out of town. I am a Stephen Minister. This is a one-on-one care for those who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. At the present time I am a facilitator for a grief group. My church has many bible studies that I love to attend. I have been blessed to learn about and follow Jesus through such a great church.
My independence has led me to love to tent camp in Colorado and Montana. I'm on my way to Silverton,CO after the reunion for two weeks of solitude tent camping
in the Rockies.
WHAT A BLESSED LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

MEMORIES
I would have to say that Mr.Hackler had a profound effect on my great love of music.
I was so blessed to have Mrs. Tisdale for a fantastic Girl Scout leader. My daughter and granddaughter are involved in scouting. Molly is working on herGoldAward. I remember that Judith Wilson and I always made the baked beans on camp outs. I still make "rockin" baked beans. It also inspired my love of camping and nature. She was the greatest leader.

I loved all my friend's parents. I felt lucky to have so many inspirations in my life.
I loved all the home parties we had. Everyone was invited. There weren't any exclusions. The only exclusion was not hearing about it
One memory I will never live down is Pat Wolvertine and the apple tree. Believe me. Nothing happened. Pat had a big mouth
I loved: Dances at the armory
Grilled pimento cheese sandwiches at Swartz Drug
American Bandstand at Sharon's house
Sleep outs in the back yards---somehow the guys would show up
Countless hours dragging main -Sonic-and who could forget the DairyQueen. Those people were saints to let us park there for hours
I'm so sorry bill holder for showing up at piano lessons early I don't know if I made u nervous or not but I thought I did. Can u imagine in this day being able to leave school -walk down A major highway to go to piano lessons???i wasn't a great success with the piano. Mrs Beeson .told me not to pursue it

One of my favorite memories were bakery tours about the time the donuts came out of the fryer

Who could forget. The famous haunted house and McFarland---not Jeanne but deputy I loved holding my hand s in the air and then calling my parents from jail. Lovely
!!!!!!!!
The greatest hair dryer were rollers in the head and sticking our heads out the window on Route 66

The lake will always hold some great memories. Our own version of beach blanket bingo

Loved Johnny Mathis. Just learned recently he was from east Texas
I could go on and on. . . . .
I loved growing up in Elk City !
I feel so fortunate to have gown up there and to have such wonderful friends and memories!
