2012 – “Last may I joined fellow ushers from the Peristyle and went to NYC to see the Toledo Symphony Orchestra perform a concert in the Carnegie Hall Auditorium. The concert was well received by the audience and the acoustics were outstanding. We also enjoyed several sightseeing tours in NYC and experienced the fast paced life of this robust city.”

1972 - Received a B.S. from Wittenberg University.
1992 - Learning Disabilities High School Teacher, Toledo Public Schools. ""Hobbies: Mark works in photography and the automobile supply business. Amy is a junior at NDA. I enjoy volleyball, golf, traveling to seacoast towns, and educational seminars and classes. Whitmer most valuable experience: The encouragement and teaching skills of Mrs. Fontaine in our Plane Geometry class. Most valuable thing I have learned: That I am responsible for my own happiness and fulfilling my goals and expectations. How I have changed: I earned a bachelors and masters degree in education and counseling. I've learned I can be an affective person with helping youth develop decision-making and educational skills and goals.""
2002 - Learning Disabilities Toledo Public Schools, retired as of 7-1-2002. I have been a teacher since 1966. For the past 25+ years. The last 19 years I have been at Central Catholic High School teaching LD Math I, LD math II, LD Pre-Algebra, and LD English I. I've enjoyed the supportive staff, parents, and students at CCHS. My interests outside work are church activities, Peristyle Classic Series ushering, gardening, and traveling.
2007 - I retired from teaching and enjoy volunteer activities with Mobile Meals, Red Cross (park table), Tai Chi, and my church. My granddaughter was born in June, 2005 and I have been babysitting her every Monday through Wednesday. I live close to Wildwood Metropark, so we enjoy walks and playing on the playground equipment at the beautiful park. In 2001 I took my first trip to Alaska and enjoyed the Inside Passage and a train trip up to Fairbanks. The variety of experiences on the trip encouraged me to repeat a trip to Alaska and try new sights."
