After High School I attended the University of Wyoming with a one year exchange to the University of Hawaii at Hilo during my senior year. I received my degree in Geography in 1991. In the summer of 1988 (between school years) I graduated from Officer Candidate School for the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. In the process, I realized that was not a direction I wanted my life to go so, I never accepted a comission.
It turns out that a degree in Geography is almost completely useless as a career path so for the next few years I did all sorts of odd jobs: Landscaping/deck building in Ohio (where I lost an eye to a 6 inch metal spike-ouch), built log homes in Montana, and worked on drill riggs in Wyoming.
In 1995 I joined the Peace Corps where I served in Romania for two years in the Transylvania region. I taught English in a high school to grades 9-12. There, I met my wife Ligia, a Romanian who was a computer science teacher in the same school. She has filled my life with more warmth and color than I could have ever hoped for.
After returning to the U.S. in 1997, we moved to Tennessee where I have spent the last 10 years working with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory doing transportation/energy/security related research. Ligia became an office manager for Flowers Industries but gave that up to raise our two girls Kate and Sara. Now my life is all about taking care of my girls. Life has been very good to me.
I hope to make it to the reunion and I look forward to seeing everyone.
