After graduation I attended Oneonta State College for two years majoring in education. I transferred to SUNY New Paltz to major in Art Education.I continued at New Paltz for graduate work, a second certification in Elementary Education and studies in Special Education. I first taught in the Newburgh,NY School system as an art teacher. I married Hugh in 1966. We have two sons, Sean and Brenden, also educators. While our sons were young I worked at a residential treatment center for boys doing art therapy, and then teaching in the high school section of the center. Hugh and I owned an operated a nursery school for a number of years. When Sean and Brenden were in school full time I went back to work in the Newburgh School system. Both Hugh and I retired from the Newburgh City School District after teaching for 30 some years. After retiring I was a consultant with the district for 5 years conducting workshops for parents. I am now very busy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh. I do not pound a hammer, but have chaired several committees, served on the Board of Directors and generally do what I can. I am a pastel painter, have had several successful shows and have won several awards. Hugh I have four grandchildren, Liam, Conor, Aiden, and Abigail. Life is good!
