WOW! It sure doesn't seem like 30 years, does it?!?!? After high school, I can't say I was very productive at much of anything for about 5 years (not proud of it, just "stating the facts"). That all changed in 1982, when I joined the US Navy. Uncle Sam is well known for taking a young man (or woman!) with little or no direction in life, and giving him or her not only a sense of purpose, but also the tools to achieve any goals one might have. It was during my time in the Navy that two very good things happened to me. 1. I met my current wife, Silvia. And 2. I became interested in computers and the technology that makes the darn things "tick"! Luckily for me, 25 years later, I'm still with both!
Silvia & I have two great kids (Daniel 18, and our daughter, Casey 14). And though my "affair" with computers has led me on a winding, and sometimes "topsy turvy" ride, it has also allowed me to find a career that I truly enjoy, and have been very fortunate to be able to do for a living. Five years ago, I started my own computer services company (Computer Services of Rocky Mount), and today we are still a small company (3 full time & 1 part time employees), but we're growing daily, and I'm sure we have a very bright future ahead. We focus on providing service & support to both residential & commercial customers, and currently have customers literally all over the state and even a few outside of NC. Thirty years ago, I couldn't have dreamed I'd be where I am today, but I'm proud to call myself a member of the Class of 1977, and I'm also very grateful for the many good friends I came to know while I was enrolled there. Those of you who I still keep in touch with know who you are, and I'm glad we've remained friends all these years!
