Today's Featured Biography
Johnny Oliver
After graduation from high school, I enlisted in the US Army for three years. I served in Germany my last two years in service. After leaving the Army, I entered North Carolina State College. I married my wife Leslie Jane (of Emporia, VA) in 1964. She graduated from Longwood College and was teaching 5th grade in Hampton, VA when we first met. I was working at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock (NNS&DD) Company in Newport News, VA as an electronics designer at that time. In 1965, I returned back to North Carolina State College and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1966. I continued working for NNS&DD Company as an electronics designer for one year after graduation from college. We moved to Dallas, Texas where I worked for Ling Temco Vought (LTV) Aerospace for one year as an electronics designer. My wife taught school in Richardson, Texas. We lived in Garland, Texas for one year then we moved to Camarillo, California were I worked for the US Government at Port Hueneme with the Naval Ships Missile Systems Engineering Station. While living in Camarillo, our son David and our daughter Jennifer were born. Our son David only lived for 17 hours. Two years later we moved to San Diego, California where we lived for several years. Our youngest daughter was born in San Diego. While living in San Diego, I worked for the US Government at the Naval Sea Support Center as a supervisor supporting the Basic Point Defense Missile Systems and Gun Fire Control Systems installed on West Coast US Navy surface ships. In 1971, we were transferred to Portsmouth, VA. We lived in Chesapeake, VA. While in the Portsmouth/ Norfolk, VA area I continued working for the US Government as a supervisor in support of the Basic Point Defense Missile Systems and TARTAR Missile Systems installed in US Navy surface ships. While living in this area, my wife was a housewife and a substitute school teacher. Prior to retiring from my US Government job in 1991, I started an electronics sales/repair business in Chesapeake, VA. After I retired, we sold our home, closed the business and moved to Emporia, VA to live on a 85 acre farm that Jane's parents had left us after their deaths. We had a new home built on the farm and we lived there for 10 years prior to moving to our present home located in Suffolk, VA. Today. Leslie and I are active members of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Our youngest daughter now lives in Chesapeake, VA. She has provided us with a handsome grandson and a beautiful granddaughter. Michelle's husband Rob is an independent financial advisor. Our oldest daughter lives in Sterling, VA. She has provided us with two beautiful granddaughters. Jennifer's husband Jason is a Methodist minister at Sterling, VA.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
