Today's Featured Biography
Karen Wood Baldridge
Wow! It seems like just yesterday, doesn’t it? We were all young and having the times of our lives at good ol’ WHS! I treasure those memories! I laugh when I remember all the crazy times I had, especially with Mary Boland (Stretch), Linda Clements (Clem) and Sharon Joliff (Ope) (may she rest in peace). Remember all the fun we had at school dances, homecomings, sock hops, basketball & football games? Remember when Mary was the Indian on our senior float? What were we thinking??!! Yep, those were the good ol’ days!
I don’t know where to begin, trying to cram 50 years into such a small space! Some of what I've been doing.- good and bad!
- Flight attendant for 18 years - got to travel & see the world!
- Real Estate Broker – Missouri & Florida
- Divorced Ken (second husband) in 1989 (we have one son)
- Sued my divorce attorney and his 11 partners for legal malpractice – and won!
- Went back to school in 1990 (I was 40 – older than some of my professors!) AS Interior design.
- Started a paint contracting business in Dallas with my brother, in 1993 – still going.
- Worked in commercial design (mostly restaurant design)
- Bought a hair salon in St Charles, as an investment, in 1994
I’ve owned a condo, in Florida, since 1983 and traveled back and forth over the years. My son lives in Naples and when he told me, last year, that I was finally going to be a grandmother, wild horses weren’t going to keep me in St Louis! I bought a home in Naples and am now living there, full-time – just 1/2 mile from my grandson!
I don’t ever want to retire - I love what I'm doing! I am Director of Operations for Baldridge Properties – I oversee 40 commercial properties, nationwide. I also handle accounting and customer service for the paint contracting business and manage vacation rentals for myself and others. I’m a very busy girl – and I love it! Life is good!
I still have family & friends in St Louis and the hair salon in St Charles. So, I go “home” on a regular basis – I’ve already got my airline tickets and I can’t wait to see all of you!
