After 24 years in New Jersey and nearly a decade of my working as a lawyer in Manhattan, my family and I moved to Chicago when I took a job with a Loop bank. After several years, I resigned to become a business consultant to various local corporations, then "retired" to commit to volunteerism and writing full-time. We have two grown children - a daughter in Chapel Hill and a son outside Atlanta, and grandchildren ranging in age between 9 and 20. Missing the East Coast and done in by Chicago winters, Herb and I relocated to Charlottesville in 2009. Virginia is wonderful: proximity to children and grandchildren; daffodils in February; and free classes at UVA (I'm signed up for my fourth starting in January). 2013, because it was the year that began with cancer's arrival and ended with cancer's departure, will be remembered for reminding us to count our blessings and enjoy each day. And so we do.
