Today's Featured Biography
James Watson
Since our high school graduation, I have led an interesting, adventurous and successful life. I have gone places and done things most people only dream about. I always thought Marlin Perkins seemed to have a lot of fun on Wild Kingdom participating in expeditions studying animal behavior. So I joined three such expeditions studying double-crested cormorants in Oregon, musk ox and caribou in Alaska, and hybrid baboons in Ethiopia.
I have received three degrees from Georgia Tech: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science in mechanical engineering, and Master of Science in engineering mechanics. My employers have all considered that combination equivalent to a PhD.
I have been employed since 1956 by research and development facilities (U.S. Naval Ordnance Laboratory, Southern Research Institute, Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Atomic Energy Authority of the U.K., Alion Science & Engineering) and engineering consulting firms (O'Donnell & Associates, Pressure Sciences Incorporated). I have taught engineering courses at Tennessee Tech, Penn State and Georgia Tech. I have also testified as an expert witness in product liability cases.
If you recall, in high school I was a nice guy everyone liked but nobody wanted to date. This pattern continued for decades past high school until I met my wife in 1994. We were married in Rockdale, New South Wales, Australia and live near Pittsburgh. She believes I am someone special and can't understand why nobody married me years ago. She is really the one who is special. I am fortunate that I found her even though I did have to go halfway around the world to do it. Our only regret is that we didn't meet twenty years earlier.
I have had ample opportunity to travel, both on business and vacation, and have many a tale to tell. In North America, I have been all over the fifty United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. In South America, I spent three weeks in the Venezuelan jungle. In Europe, I have been all over Scotland, England, Wales, the Netherlands, West Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. My wife and I also spent ten days in Paris. In Asia, I have been all over China, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. My wife and I had a 21st floor apartment in Shanghai for fifteen months. In Africa, I have been all over Morocco and have spent significant amounts of time in Addis Ababa, Awash National Park, Boke, Conakry, Dakar, Touba and Ziguinchor. In Oceania, I have been all over New Zealand, Tahiti, Moorea, Fiji and the east coast of Australia.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
