Kathleen Souza Whitebred

After I graduated, I got married and moved to Taunton. I was a stay-at-home-Mom who brought up three sons and a daughter. I enjoyed having them around and thought they would stay small for a long time (surprise!) Sadly, my marriage lasted 18 years. I moved back to Falmouth and started my next journey. I worked as a cashier at Stop & Shop when it was in the plaza, and from there I got a job as a receptionist at an Alcohol and Rehab Center. It was the start of an interesting position. I worked there for 12 years and was on my own for 23 years before I married again…I was not in a hurry! But I met Ron on a blind date in 1999 and we were married a year later! He is a retired Minister and we now live in Chatham.
When I was young I always dreamed of places that I would love to visit some day. Since we’ve been married we have done a lot of traveling…Bermuda, Germany, Austria, (where Ron began studies on his Doctorate at the University of Vienna), Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Italy, and as a matter of fact, we will have just returned from several weeks in Egypt at the time of our Reunion in September! We also made various trips here in the States.
I do a lot of reading about places around the world and I read a lot of autobiographies. I also love classical music, especially Mozart and Beethoven. I enjoy walking to the beach which is about 10 minutes from our house. Chatham is a lovely place. I have 9 grandchildren: two granddaughters and 7 grandsons. They are scattered around in several states, so I don’t get to see them as often as I would like. However, one granddaughter lives in Falmouth, which is great!
I have worked for Elder Services of Cape Cod & The Islands at their main office in South Dennis as a receptionist and have been there for 11 years; no plans to retire yet. I work part time and love what I do there.
